The Magic of Changing Beliefs

Updated: Jan 20, 2021

People often believe that the process of modifying their beliefs is challenging and demanding. However, with guidance, the change can come easily and effortlessly.

This process is a process of maturation and personal growth - growing out of the childlike beliefs or opinions that we developed in our youth. Changing beliefs is a natural process. For children, it is easy to believe what they are told, and take it as an absolute truth. There used to be a time that you believed in the existence of Santa Claus, Tooth Fairy or Easter Bunny. These are harmless beliefs, that change over time and you modify the belief based on evidence and your own maturity.

However, if you as a child are told that you are not good enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough, when you experience lack of love, attention or care, or when you see your parents or role models live a life of limitation and scarcity, you start developing beliefs that you take to be true about yourself and about the world you live in. And these beliefs are much harder to change, than believing in Santa Claus. They exist on a subconscious level and you may not even be aware that these beliefs turned into rules that you now follow in your life.

As we mature into adults and we prepare for the different stages of our lives or careers, we 'want to believe' that we will be able to manage them successfully and resourcefully. However, if there was a seed of fear, doubt or a limitation planted in the past into our subconscious mind, this might have grown into a strong opinion or belief that is blocking you from living the life you really want.

And as we continue to enter and pass through relationships, jobs, friendships and partnerships in our life, we develop new beliefs and values which further either serve us, or limit our ability to achieve our goals.

You might feel that there is more to life than you are currently living but don’t know to make a change. You might feel that you think you don’t have the confidence or are not good enough to achieve all the success and happiness in life that you desire. So where do you start to make a change?

First step is to identify what is holding you back. This might be uncomfortable but is an essential starting point. So how do we identity a limiting belief that we don’t even know we have?

There are two ways to do this - the internal way and the external way.

The external method is to just look at your actions and results on a day-to-day basis as sometimes you can get a good understanding of what you believe just by how you act. For example, are you stuck in a job that you don’t like? Do you believe that you are not good enough to get a promotion or have a job that you love and earn the money you really want? Do you believe it is hard to lose weight, so you surrender to eating sweets and fast food? Do you believe that chances of getting pregnant with IVF are slim so you don’t even try?

The internal method involves going deep within yourself, paying attention to your thoughts and see what thoughts you tend to gravitate towards. It is important to become aware of repeated thought patterns and identify these beliefs on a subconscious level. You will often be able to go back to your past and identify an event or a person that has triggered the liming belief or planted the seed of it in your mind. Hypnosis is a very effective tool to help you uncover and understand the root cause of your beliefs on the subconscious and conscious level.

What is next? Once you’ve identified those beliefs, start doubting! Start questioning if they are truly your beliefs. Or are these things that you used to hear or see in the past that you believed are true? For example, did your parents believe that having a job that pays the bills is good enough, and not to expect any joy or fulfillment from it? Have you heard in your childhood that you will grow up to be obese and be just like your overweight mother or sister? Have you heard from media that fertility rates drop drastically after certain age? Are these beliefs truly yours?

Now, that you have done the heavy lifting, comes the fun part. Removing, dissolving and re-coding the old beliefs and replacing them with behaviors, beliefs and opinions that are your own, that serve your purpose and take you forward in life. Make them your own, imagine what your life would be like if your new beliefs were true. Integrating and re-coding them into your subconscious mind will trigger the permanent change.

Eventually, the new beliefs will incorporate into your belief system permanently and you will find ease and confidence in situations that used to cause you concern or limitation.

That's how the magic happens.

There’s no telling how fast you’ll find yourself incorporating your new beliefs. It may take a while; it may happen overnight. It only depends on how radical the new belief is, and how you start to incorporate it into your life experience.

The journey starts with the first step.

Break the negative belief cycle.

Let me guide you.
